Well last night got weird, to say the least. spyder made a post t'other day to pagan (among others) to share his Application for a Gift Giving Anthromorphic Personification, us doing the getting into the spirit of the season an' all.
And then with minimum notification (i.e. as it happened), his post was pulled as being off topic!
Me, bitter? Nah... but since we've just been thrown off said community then I'm gonna have my say anyway whether the mod's like it or not.
bellacrow posted (a recreation of which can be viewed HERE) to say an off-topic post had been pulled and so Spyd went in to ask why. Hardly something unexpected under the circumstances, but apparently questioning a decision from The Moderators is not allowed within the hallowed walls of pagan, as the e-mail I got from mirgar demonstrates:
I have looked over the comments you have recently made in the LiveJournal community pagan, and I have decided to ban you, because you are personally insulting to the moderators. If this is confusing to you, please refer to the first line of the guidelines we have posted on the community info page:
No personal attacks or ad hominem arguments. Abusing the moderators will result in banning.
Your comment regarding your opinion of bellacrow's level of professionalism specifically gave me concerns.
Now while I admit that I was slightly ruffled when I was posting last night, I don't think there was much in the way of "personal attacks or ad hominem arguments" - at least I can't see any where they hadn't been earned.
Anyway, as can be seen above, I've been booted out of a community I've been on for ~two years simply for voicing disagreement with the mod's. Spyd was booted too...
Hello Spyder, I'm writing you about the recent discussions in the LiveJournal pagan community about off-topic posts.
Bellacrow and I have final authority over what is an off-topic post. I have removed you from the community because you seem uncomfortable consenting to that authority, and the threads were causing unnecessary drama.
You are not banned, there is nothing holding you back from rejoining the community. However, if you do so, I will interpret that as consent to our authority. It may seem obvious to you that a post is of interest to the pagan community at large, and equally obvious to us that it is not. In the case of a conflict, the judgment of the moderator trumps.
In this specific case -- the GGAP form -- the post was just a link, and the link was to a static form. The form is a one-off gag, not much content there. It was on the level of unsolicited joke emails. It was off-topic because it contained neither enough information nor enough entertainment value to really have a topic.
Of course that is a value judgment. If our values are too different, please feel free not to rejoin the community.
Again, this e-mail was from mirgar.
And for the record, it's not the fact that the post got pulled - this is because not only did the post get pulled, the post got pulled without warning, explanation or apology... oh yeah, and because bellacrow was rude to my husband! Bwahahahahhahaaaa!
Yay for still having ukpagans is all I can say!
